The National Parks and their Wildlife

Since its independence Kenya has established a lot of preservation areas. Its national parks and reserves cover more than 10% of the country. They are administered either by the KWS (Kenya Wildlife Service) or by the relevant local council. Entry fees are to be paid per person and per day.

Besides the national parks and reserves there are an increasing number of private wildlife reserves which have also set out to protect the local wildlife and its environment. Please find a description of the major national parks and reserves hereafter.
