Kenya
Kenya is probably the country in Africa which has the most diverse wildlife and
landscapes to offer.
Within an area only slightly larger than France, Kenya brings together all
imaginable African landscapes: vast plains, thick forests, savannas dotted with acacia and baobab
trees, immense deserts, multicoloured lakes, majestic mountains covered in eternal snow, to the
tropical beaches of the Indian Ocean.
Kenya is inhabited by extraordinary wildlife, including "The Big Five": the elephant, lion, rhinoceros,
buffalo and leopard, and is home to many species of antelope, gazelle, giraffe, zebra, hippopotamus and
primate… It also shelters an incredibly rich selection of birdlife ; over 1200 species of bird can be found
there and its climatic diversity fosters the growth of remarkable flora. The immensity of Kenya's landscapes
sometimes evokes a great garden of Eden.
Today the reserves and national parks, of which there are over fifty, occupy around 45 000 km², or 10% of
Kenya's total area.
